All-round Oval Invincibles cruise to nine-wicket win | – Cricbuzz – Cricbuzz


Oval Invincibles made a winning start to the Women’s Hundred after they thumped Northern Superchargers by 9 wickets. In the tournament opener, the Invincibles made short work of the target set by the Superchargers.

Jemimah Rodrigues continued from where she left off at the Commonwealth Games and scored another fifty. While she held her end, the Invincibles struck at the other end. She eventually fell for a 32-ball 51. Laura Wolvaardt added 49 late runs too keep the Superchargers in the game as they finished with 143 on the board.

Opener Lauren Winfield-Hill headlined and led the chase for the Invincibles with an unbeaten 42-ball 72 that included 11 fours and a six. Suzie Bates gave her company in a match-winning 104-run stand that came in just 68 balls. Bates fell for 46 off 34, leaving very little for the incoming batter. However, Alice Capsey seemed to be in a hurry, as she smashed 24 runs in just 8 balls, including four boundaries and a six to take the side over the line in 84 balls.
