Android Apps Ban: Google asks millions to delete these four Android apps now, read here

Apps make life easy for the common man, but if the same apps steal your privacy, it’s deceptive. Google Play store is filled with all sorts of apps, structured in distinct categories – from health to books to photography and more. While all that’s great, there are some menacing apps on the play store that could steal your data. Identifying them can be arduous unless checked and used.

Google has banned four such scam apps that are imbued with malware, alerting all Android users to remove them from their respective devices right away. Security experts at Malwarebytes first identified these apps and highlighted them to Google.

All these scam apps were launched and made available to the users by the Mobile apps Group.

In October 2020, the Mobile apps Group launched an app called “Bluetooth Auto Connect”, which garnered millions of downloads. Some of the other iffy apps launched by the same group include Bluetooth App Sender, Mobile transfer: smart switch, and Driver: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB. Despite having stringent security rules to enter the Android platforms, the Mobile apps group somehow passed through the safety gates, as the developer delayed infused malicious software.
The initial stages of these apps feel no harm to the users, but as you dive into further usage, you would be witnessing phishing sites. Although these scam portals didn’t appear to be something that users need to fret about initially, the portals became dangerous in the due course.

The experts of Malwarebytes stated that these apps originally open with dangerous portals on Google. Some of the portals don’t cause any harm, but other unsafe portals deceives the users, misleading them into downloading something or asking them to update.

Malwarebytes security experts said, “The Chrome tabs are opened in the background even while the mobile device is locked. When the user unlocks their device, Chrome opens with the latest site. A new tab opens with a new site frequently, and as a result, unlocking your phone after several hours means closing multiple tabs.
