Martinelli has been thriving for the north London club this season, becoming a regular starter and netting seven times.

Sportsmail exclusively revealed on October 10 that talks over an improved deal for the attacker following an impressive 12 months for the Gunners we’re underway, with all parties hopeful of a conclusion.

Those discussions have come to fruition with the Brazilian set to see a sharp increase in his wages from his current £70,000-a-week deal.

Martinelli signed from Brazilian side Ituano for just £6million in 2019, but has since emerged as one of Mikel Arteta’s key men in his title challenge.

He is said to be very happy in London and informed his advisors that it was his priority to stay with Arsenal despite growing interest from rival European clubs.

His reputation as one of the brightest young attacking players in world football was strengthen when he was selected for Brazil’s World Cup squad in November, although the five-time winners were eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Arteta will now hope Bukayo Saka will follow in Martinelli’s footsteps and pen a new deal with the England winger out of contract in 2024 – although the Gunners can extend this by a year.
