Fortnite skin generators have been around for a while now, or at least in concept. With skins being so popular in-game, users have tried their level best to obtain them for free. Some have even turned towards using skin changers in Fortnite to swap out cosmetics.
That said, players are always on the lookout for rare skins and are ready to try and obtain them at whatever be the cost. This is where Fortnite skin generators take center stage. The software allegedly allows users to generate any number of skins on their Epic Games account for free.
Although the idea of being able to generate skins on a whim is certainly fascinating, it doesn’t exist at all. This piece of forbidden software is nothing but a myth, used by scamsters to lore unsuspecting users into unknowingly giving away their account details.
While there are countless videos on social media showcasing ‘working’ skin generators, none of them do what they claim they can. Most either lead to a dead-end or a potential scam. Either way, they do not exist and yet, many claim to have found software that works.
That said, one has to wonder how people get hold of such elusive software. Is it a secret project overseen by Epic Games or is a higher power sharing forbidden knowledge? This article will explore the world of Fortnite skin generators.
Getting Fortnite skin generators is easier than one can imagine
Getting hold of Fortnite skin generators is a rather easy task. While one would imagine that this software is sold on the dark web or mentioned in hushed tones, that’s far from the truth. Users openly advertise and advocate the use of this software on forums like Reddit.
However, unlike the aimbot software for Fortnite that was once openly sold on r/FortniteHacks, there doesn’t seem to be any fixed place to get Fortnite skin generators. While there are a few posts that talk about the software, they are mostly scattered across individual accounts and subreddits.
Most of them have been lying dormant for a long time, while others have had the thread archived. However, there are a few that are still active. For example, a user named (redacted) has been posting links for users to obtain Fortnite skin generators for free. Here’s what was written in the post:
“Free Free Fortnite skin generator. Generate thousands of free Fortnite skins per day? All devices support our new Fortnite hack tool. We call it the Free Fortnite skin generator. Do you know how to get free Fortnite Skins? Keep reading and we will show you how.”
As most readers can tell, it’s a bunch of malarkey. The long description is used to entice and draw in users who will do anything to get free skins. Even the mention of the word “hack” will not be enough to stop those tempted enough to go through with the process. That said, sadly, the link provided in the post does nothing.
Despite choosing an epic-looking skin and entering the username as requested, nothing happened. Even after waiting for a few minutes, no free skin was sent to the locker. It almost seems as if the software isn’t working as intended, huh.
However, as luck would have it, there are many more sites that do work. While the name of the site will not be disclosed, here are a few screenshots of the process:
Step 1: Ignore safety protocols
As readers might have noticed, the webpage has been flagged and marked as dangerous. The browser, unless manually allowed, will deny users access to the page at all times and will provide reasons for the same. However, it can be manually bypassed. Once done, the next page will come into view.
Step 2: Choose a skin
Given that the skins showcased on the page are unobtainable in-game, this lays the foundation for the scam/phishing attempt. Users seeing this will have the urge to select a skin and press on the claim button (please, don’t).
Step 3: Failed verification
Once the claim button has been pressed, the page supposedly fails to connect to the user’s Epic Games account. It then throws up arbitrary messages, asking players to manually verify their account. Pressing the yellow bar will take users to the next page.
Step 4: No free skins
Upon reaching the end of the line and clicking on the giant black bar, a login prompt should appear and ask for personal details. Unfortunately, the browser was redirected to another website. This is where the trail runs cold and the search for working Fortnite skin generators ends.
That said, it’s best not to enter personal details into sites such as this one or even try to access similar sites. In fact, any site that is associated with Epic Games for collaborations or events will be mentioned on their blog.
The most recent example is: https://letthemknow.fortnite.com/en-US/
Even though there is no mention of Epic Games in the URL, it has been posted to the official blog page. This is how players can be certain that it is not a scam or a phishing attempt.
Malware, Trojans, and possible bank fraud
While Fortnite skin generators may be real in some other reality within the confines of the metaverse, they don’t exist in real life. Upon entering personal details into such sites, users are liable to get hacked or worse still, have their credit card details stolen.
The account will then be taken over and the user will lose control over it shortly. In many cases, such accounts are sold on private Discord channels that offer discounted V-Bucks and redeem codes.
If users are lucky, they may be able to regain access to their account if the two-factor authentication (2FA) is active. This will give them a second chance, but for those unlucky loopers who haven’t yet activated it, their chances of regaining control of the account are slim to none.
With all that said, it’s best not to go looking for Fortnite skin generators on the internet. No such thing exists, and even if it does, it will not be associated with Epic Games. There are numerous risks and dangers involved.
The only ‘legal’ way to get skins in-game is to either buy them from the item shop or have them gifted by friends. Redeem codes can also be used to obtain them. Few skins like Chrome Punk can be earned by completing challenges, while others can be gained by participating in certain events.
All said and done, no matter who says so, there is no such thing as real Fortnite skin generators. While some sites do allow players to make random locker combinations for skins, they cannot be transferred in-game.
