IND vs NZ LIVE: Ishan Kishan escapes 4 ODI suspension, ICC Match Referee leaves Indian star with warning for ‘DELIBERATELY’ deceiving an UMPIRE: Check OUT
Did Ishan Kishan CHEAT? The entire chain of events EXPLAINED: The report claims, the Indian Wicket-Keeper batter clearly attempted decieving an umpire while appealing for Black Caps captain Tom Latham’s wicket.
- Kishan tried to trick the square leg umpire into believing that Latham has trod on his own stumps in the 1st ODI at Hyderabad.
- Kishan appealed for Latham’s dismissal, but replays showed the wicketkeeper had deliberately knocked a bail off with his empty glove – at his second attempt. This was done long after Latham had hit the ball.
- The Sequence of PICTURES procured by InsideSport clearly shows – that Ishan Kishan actually took the BAILS out by his GLOVE and than appealed for Latham’s dismissal.
Even Indian captain Rohit Sharma was left bemused. Before appealing he asked the wicketkeeper – what’s going on with his appeal for the wicket of New Zealand’s captain Tom Latham during the first ODI of the series in Hyderabad?
Did Ishan Kishan CHEAT? What does the ICC Conde of Conduct says? Why Srinath did not hand PUNISHMENT to Kishan?
The ICC’s Code of Conduct is clear that it is an LEVEL 3 offence claims the report. Kishan should have been charged for the offence of LEVEL 3 as he tried attempting to gain an unfair advantage. This charge leads to a suspension of between four and 12 ODIs or Twenty20 internationals.
In the ICC’s Code of Conduct, Article 2.15 ‘Attempting to gain an unfair advantage during an International Match’ includes “deliberate attempts to deceive an Umpire”.
The Code also says: “When assessing the seriousness of the breach, consideration should be given to whether the conduct was deliberate, reckless and/or negligent on the part of the relevant player.”
Why Srinath did not PUNISH Ishan Kishan? The report says that Srinath did not take any action – likely because neither umpire Anil Chaudhary nor Nitin Menon appear to have officially reported Kishan over the incident.
Though Srinath spoke separately to Kishan as well as the Indian captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid.
India won the 1st two ODI’s to pocket the series. The final encounter will be played on Tuesday in Indore.
