Reus told BILD: ‘Of course you look ahead. I only have six months left on my contract. I think if you didn’t think about it, that would be wrong too.’

Speaking about interest from Al-Nassr, Reus’ agent Dirk Lever said: ‘It’s quite normal that other clubs are interested in a player like Marco, whose contract expires in six months. Marco has always emphasised how much BVB is important to him, but also that he wants to keep playing football. So it’s quite normal for us to look at other options.’

Ronaldo signed a two-year deal that is worth £175million per season with Al-Nassr.

They are now interested in signing Reus and have also been linked with Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos.

Reus has again struggled with injuries this season, with knee issues restricting him to nine appearances in the Bundesliga. He has been training with the Dortmund team in Marbella as he closes in on a return to competitive action.

The vast majority of Reus’ career has been spent at Dortmund after he joined the club in 2012.

In the ensuing period he has made 368 appearances for the club and has scored 156 goals.
