Volcanic eruption in Tonga blew 58,000 swimming pools of water into the atmosphere – Inshorts

The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai submarine volcano eruption shot 38 billion gallons of water into the atmosphere, enough to fill 58,000 Olympic swimming pools, according to a new study published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. The study was led by NASA scientist Luis Millán. The January 15 eruption was one of the largest recorded in the past 140 years.
